At least six fire companies have been fighting a cornfield fire on Power Dam Road.
Flames have reached more than 15-feet and it's spreading fast. Fire Investigator John Huddle says this fire is unique for a cornfield because the drought has been so severe.
"It's so dry that we can wet it down and move on to another spot and it will just flare up," said Huddle. "The fire is burning up underneath the debris. So, flare ups are a constant problem."
Huddle says the crews are lucky that a fire hydrant is close to the field. He says even though burn bans are not in effect for the area, we should still avoid burning outside.
