Here's an example of your hard-earned money at work - Part of the fee you paid for your car's registration is going toward emergency medical services around the state.

More than $3.2 million is being returned to localities statewide.

The cities of Harrisonburg ($13,333) and Winchester ($11,044) will both receive more than $10,000, while Staunton ($9,688.50) and Waynesboro ($8,735) are each getting just under that level.

Counties are also cashing in. In fact, the Valley counties of Rockingham ($33,689), Augusta ($34,579.50), and Frederick ($33,509.50) are each getting more than $30,000.

Also, Shenandoah County will receive $19,978.50, while Page County is slated to get $11,645.

The money is being distributed by the Virginia Department of Health.
