"It's just something that I thought would make me feel good today and I just wanted to give back to those wonderful people back here," said Matthew Kinnman, resident of Harrisonburg.
Matthew Kinnman is originally from Indiana. He moved to the Valley a couple of years ago and is a councilor at Broadway High School. He joined other volunteers of all ages at the Harrisonburg Salvation Army's Thanksgiving meal.
"I think that thanksgiving is really a time that you can really get back to the basics of life, seeing what's really important for you and the community has always been important to me," said Kinnman.
Today at noon people gathered for a feast of turkey and all the sides they dished out. Although so far away from home, how does mike feel about how he spent his day?
"Very good, very good, it gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling inside," said Kinnman.
The group fed around a dozen people this afternoon.
