Harrisonburg has taken the first step in turning Downtown into a technology zone.
The city has purchased a building at One Court Square to serve as a technology facility. It will house the more mature businesses that are past the start up phase. The three-story building will have full wireless connections, fiber optic technology, and the ability for world wide conferencing.
"It is more than just pouring money into something and getting no return; here, we think we have the ability to brighten Downtown's future, as well as create a future source of income for the city," says city council member Charles Chenault.
They hope to begin remodeling towards the middle of next year.
