It's gone from a simple house fire, to arson, and now, to fraud.

Staunton Police are now reporting that the house fire at 1634 West Beverley Street on Nov. 23 was even more than just arson. The home's owner is being implicated.

Police say Jim John Cash, Sr. has been arrested and charged with both arson and defrauding an insurance company. He is the owner of the home that caught fire last week.

Police also arrested Jim John Cash, Jr. and Audra Burkholder Cash, of Waynesboro, for the crime. Both of them are charged with arson. All three suspects are released on bond.

The fire broke out around 11 p.m. Nov. 23. A neighbor reported seeing smoke coming out the front of the house. Crews had the fire contained within 20 minutes, and it appears the fire started in the basement. The fire chief says there was no one inside.
