Volunteers are the life-blood of Augusta County's emergency response systems, and the need for help is at a critical stage.
There are 600 volunteers that are part of the 16 fire and rescues teams in Augusta County, and one official said that isn't enough.
"Sometimes we have less than eight people on calls," said Bunny Hearn, EMS Instructor/Coordinator for Augusta County Fire-Rescue. "And after Jan. 1, that will be under the legal limit."
As the County searches for volunteers, they are looking to you for help. If you are interested in volunteering time with your local fire/rescue department, call (540) 245-5283.
