The grandfather of a girl who died of exposure in the woods two years ago got a 10-year suspended sentence today for improperly spending donations to her memorial fund.
A Nelson County judge also prohibited James Holden from ever holding a position in a charitable organization again.
Holden held a raffle last year to raise money in memory of his eight-year-old granddaughter, Jackie.
The girl had been lost in the woods for three days in February 2000, before searchers discovered her body.
Holden later cancelled the raffle, but allegedly kept as much as $25,000 in cash.
