Thursday night the Staunton City Council gave the thumbs up to spend money to effectively end the skate park in Staunton.
After months of discussion, a public forum, much debate and the urging of city youth, Staunton approved the expenditure of a $70,000 to get a skate park built within city limits.
The skate park will be built on a softball field in Gypsy Hill Park, and will consist of various quarter pipe ramps, along with a half pipe ramp, all placed on a cement flat.
There is no date for opening or final cost estimate at this time.
