Mrs. Sanders' second grade class from Hunter McQuire collected 865 items during a seven-day food drive. Today, they turned it over to the Blue Ridge area food bank in Verona. The food bank feeds more than 58,000 people in the surrounding areas, and these kids are giving it exactly what it needs.

"Food drives throughout the community, especially what Hunter McQuire has done, help to provide us with nutritional product. Canned goods, cereal, boxed items, things that we are really in low supply of right now," said Lyn Hall, Operations Manager for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.

For the first time ever, the food bank has had to purchase Thanksgiving turkeys for people in the community. They hope they don't have to do this for Christmas.

If you would like to donate, drop by their office. They are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To get directions, call them at 540-248-3663.
