A Staunton teen who drank at least six beers and then got behind the wheel of a sports utility vehicle in March has pleaded guilty to aggravated involuntary manslaughter.

Nineteen-year-old Kevin Smith also pleaded guilty Monday to charges of underage possession of alcohol, driving on a suspended license and a second offense of driving while intoxicated. He faces up to 20 years in prison when he's sentenced.

Smith's S-U-V veered off the road March 9th, hit a fence, and flipped three times before coming to rest in a field.

The wreck ejected three passengers, including 18-year-old Donna Madrid, of Staunton, who was killed. An 18-year-old man and a 12-year-old boy were thrown from the vehicle but not seriously
injured.
