City Council did not decide tonight on whether to give the School Board last year's surplus money for the school renovations.
You may remember reports that school board officials wanted to request $889,000 from Council to help cover overruns from the high school renovations.
But, Council voted to table the matter until the next city council meeting.
Some felt Council was stalling on the matter, but one Council member disagreed.
"I think it is important when we are dealing with public funds that the public be aware of what is going on," said Waynesboro City Council Member Thomas Reynolds. "This item was not on the agenda. With the importance of $500,000 I believe the public should have an opportunity if they have something to say, to say it."
City Council will take up the matter at its Oct. 28 meeting.
