Three firefighters in the southern part of the Valley are being accused of starting several fires on purpose.

The sheriff's office in Alleghany County says the firemen were involved in eight separate arsons in the past year, in Iron Gate.

Some of the burned structures dated back to the 1800s. All of the buildings were abandoned at the time of the fires.

In each case, the suspects allegedly helped fight the fires that they had earlier started.

I personally know both of these guys. I went to school with both of them in Alleghany County. I do not understand why they would do such a thing!!! They risk peoples lives rather the dwellings were vacant at the time or not. They still risk the firefights lives, including their own!!!!
