Arrest Made In Harrisonburg Bank Robbery

The Harrisonburg Police Department has charged a man allegedly responsible for bank robbery in Harrisonburg.

The suspect of the BB&T robbery on Wednesday was caught on surveillance video.

The Harrisonburg Police Department has charged a man, who was allegedly responsible for a recent bank robbery.

Edward L. Thompson IV, 50, of Greer, SC has been charged with robbery.

On Aug. 3 around 3:48 p.m., a male entered BB&T, 250 Neff Ave. and demanded money from the teller. A weapon was never displayed but the offender did threaten that he had a gun.

Witnesses last saw the offender leaving the area on foot.
Several customers and employees were inside the bank at the time of the incident but no injuries were reported.

As the investigation progressed, numerous tips were received and investigators were able to identify the suspect.

Yesterday evening; with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and Baltimore County Police Department, Mr. Thompson was arrested in Baltimore County, MD.

“The arrest of this suspect was a collaborative effort between HPD, the community, and several law enforcement agencies,” said Mary-Hope Vass, HPD’s Public Information Officer.

Thompson is being jailed in Baltimore County, MD pending extradition to the Rockingham Regional Jail.
