If your home or possessions were stolen or destroyed, would your insurance company pay to replace them?
Some local residents found out they don't have the coverage they thought they did.
After a recent transformer accident in Verona damaged property, one neighbor was totally surprised when his insurance company told him his policy did not insure anything with a computer chip in it.
Agent Bev Cundiffof State Farm Insurance said those are the types of things you need to look for when you buy a policy.
"The parallels that listed on the policy," said Cundiff, "like fire, theft, windstorm or hail, those types of things are going to be covered. If its not listed or specifically left off then there is no coverage."
Be very specific when purchasing a policy. Let the agent know what types of items you need coverage for, some may cost extra. And consider insurance that pays the replacement cost.
