Haitham Rashid Wihaib came to America with a purpose.
"To show my thanks and gratitude to the American People and the armed forces," aid Wihaib.
Wihaib spoke at Mary Baldwin College on Wednesday night about Iraq during the Saddam regime.
And as Hussein's former Chief of Protocol, he's an expert.
"What America did was not an invasion," said Wihaib. "America helped my people in getting rid of the worst regime."
He says millions of Iraqis were murdered by Hussein. He survived three attempts at this own life before he escaped to the US. But he says the dictator wasn't only a threat to his own people.
"Saddam was very happy to support and help international terrorism," said Wihaib.
