Staunton Roads

The Queen City saw white all day long as it was hit with its first big snow storm this year. The inches continued to pile up in Staunton but public works was ready for the task.

The department dispersed 22 plow trucks out on the roads and 16 others armed with salt. Despite public works being down two trucks it didn't stop their successful efforts and the crews will stay up all night and morning making sure it stays that way.

"The road temperatures have been up a little bit so the snow's melting a little quicker than we thought," says Director of Staunton Public Works Tom Sliwoski. "The air temperatures are up, so the snow doesn't seem to be sticking as much as we thought it would."

With the storm expected to subside in the early morning the crews will work round the clock until that last flake touches the ground.
