Patience was a virtue Monday in Waynesboro as the flakes continued to fall. Many of the streets were still covered late Monday afternoon as public works continued to prioritize. The crew’s main focus was on its primary and secondary roads.
More than 20 plows were out throughout the day scraping the streets but they were routed to the major streets and intersections for emergency traffic. With many side-streets still unscathed neighborhood residents had to wait until the white stuff settled.
"We're having really good luck with our equipment," said public work's Bert Smith. "We're not having a lot of down time. All of our employees are in good spirits and are trying to take care of the entire city."
The snow storm is expected to subside early Tuesday morning. Public works says its crew will be out throughout the night taking care of all its streets.
