Opponents and supporters of Dominion Virginia Power's proposed coal-fired power plant in southwestern Virginia came by the hundreds to speak to the State Corporation Commission.
About 150 people signed up to speak Tuesday at the hearing in Richmond about the $1.6 billion plant.
Environmentalists say the 585-megawatt facility would pollute the air and endanger health.
Other residents and officials say the plant will create jobs and economic development.
Dominion has said it plans to use advanced technology to burn coal cleaner and capture carbon emissions before they can be released into the air.
But opponents say the technology does not exist.

If they decide to build this plant and the pollution isn't relased into the air, what are they going to do with the emissions once they "capture" them? Bury them in a landfill or dump them into the ocean?? Either way, if the technology exist or not, it's still going to be bad for the environment.
