The Nelson County Sheriff's Office is investigating an early morning murder Wednesday, according to a report by Nelson County Life.
CBS19's media partner confirmed with Sheriff David Brooks that the department is at a murder scene at a home at 617 Ball Mountain Road in the eastern part of the county near the community of Elma.
"We do have a suspect in custody," Sheriff Brooks told NCL, adding that there's no immediate danger to the public.
The sheriff's office is not releasing many details at this time, but NCL reports the victim is 42-year-old Amy Holden. She was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center Wednesday morning.
According to a report in the Daily Progress in February 2000, the daughter of a Nelson County woman also named Amy Holden and also living at 617 Ball Mountain Road was found dead in the woods outside her home after apparently wandering away while her mother was asleep. Investigators reported at the time that 8-year-old Jackie Holden died of exhaustion and exposure to the cold.
Despite the identical name and address, officials have not yet confirmed if the two women are the same person.
Investigators, including agents from the Virginia State Police, have put up crime scene tape to create a perimeter around the property. They are searching for evidence.
