Turning Furniture Into Art

It's almost time for spring cleaning, and some local artists are taking advantage.

Wednesday morning artists picked out gently-worn furniture to convert into artistic creations.

The creative pieces will then be auctioned off this summer to benefit the Children's Art Network.

The group travels to local schools to teach children about art.

"This is a chance to support young artists," said Martha Bruin Degen, who is president of the Network's Board of Directors. "We are trying to, as artists, encourage young people to value art, to enjoy art and to be able to find their voice."

Anyone can attend the June 5 Art in Bloom Auction and bid on the art or you can get involved before.
