Police are investigating a bank robbery along a major Staunton road. A little past 4 p.m. Wednesday, police say a man took off with an undisclosed amount of money from Planters Bank on Richmond Road.

Police put the bank on complete lock-down and are looking at surveillance tape and interviewing witnesses.

A canine unit tried to pick up a scent at the scene, but that came back negative.

Witnesses say the man simply walked out the front door. It's not clear whether the suspect was actually armed.

According to Officer Amy Pultz, "The teller did not see a weapon of any kind; however, he was presenting himself in such a threatening manner that he could have been armed."

Police are actively looking for a light-skinned male with blond hair. They believe he is about 200 pounds and 5'9" tall. He's thought to be between 20- and 30-years-old and wearing a light blue baseball hat.

You are asked to contact Staunton Police with any information.
