West Virginia University officials are still trying to determine the scope and importance of files missing from former football coach Rich Rodriguez's office.
But one thing they are sure of is that the academic records of the players are secure.
University spokeswoman Amy Neil says the WVU Office of Admissions and Records maintains grade and attendance records in a separate location.
The files were discovered missing from the Puskar Center after WVU coaches returned from the January 2 Fiesta Bowl.
Rodriguez's agent, Mike Brown, declined to answer questions about whether Rodriguez removed or destroyed any documents.
Neil believes it would not be unusual for the head coach to have copies of his own records to ensure players are maintaining grade and scholarship requirements.
And Brown says current head coach Bill Stewart should have his own copies of each players' strength and conditioning tests.
Meanwhile, a WVU lawsuit against Rodriguez to collect on a $4-million buyout clause in his contract was transferred Wednesday from Monongalia County Circuit Court to U.S. District Court in Clarksburg.
