The race to Governor is shaping up to be a heated one in the Valley. And on Wednesday's rainy day, that political race stormed into the Valley.
Tim Kaine supporters of all ages gathered today to welcome the Democratic candidate.
As part of his eight-day campaign blitz, Kaine spent his lunch hour Wednesday shaking hands with Valley residents at Staunton's Wright's Dairy Rite.
In a short speech, Kaine outlined several of his ideas, including how he plans to help local property owners combat high taxes.
"We're going to give to local governments a flexible tool that they can use that other states have called a Homestead Exemption where if they want to give relief in times of rising assessments they don't have to lower the tax rate for every piece of property," Kaine explained. "They can target the tax relief right at homeowners."
In addition, Kaine says he will combat that problem by making sure the state fully funds education, shifting the burden away from local governments and taxpayers.
