Valley residents got a taste of politics in Staunton Thursday morning.
Former Attorney General Jerry Kilgore was in the Queen City to announce his candidacy for governor.
Kilgore says he will work to phase out the Commonwealth's car tax, and stressed bipartisan leadership and cooperation would be a large part of his administration.
A major part of his speech was for continued education reform, and higher wages for Virginia's teachers.
"What our children learn in our schools will make them into who they are tomorrow. The strengthening of our education system through continuing reform is central to our children's future," said Kilgore.
