Construction began Monday at the site of Rockingham County's newest green house.

Former James Madison University student Zach Fettig dreamed up the house. He says it will use clean energy, but cost about the same as constructing a conventional house.

"We're creating a self-sustained house that looks like a normal house," says Fettig. "It's going to be a Colonial-style house that's going to be self-sustained in terms of electricity, water and sewer, using various technologies all the way from solar and wind for electricity, as well as for heating and cooling."

Work should be finished by the end of February. Students will then move in during the fall to test how much energy the house is actually saving.
