Former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore made a campaign stop at James Madison University Monday night.
Presented by the JMU College Republicans, Gilmore provided students and the public with information about his candidacy in the Senate race.
He explained his past political experiences and showed his stance on issues, including his thoughts about President George W. Bush's economic stimulus package.
"Well, I certainly support a stimulus. I think that something has to be done because people are very concerned about their economic situations," says Gilmore. "Their 401Ks are going down. They're worried about their jobs, and I think that it requires vigorous action to do something. I think they've waited a long time, and I'm not sure this is the best stimulus, but I appreciate the fact that action is being taken."
In the long run, he believes people must address the concern of high government spending by controlling it and reducing taxes. Gilmore is running for U.S. Senate against Delegate Bob Marshall.
