Bottle lovers were in the valley Sunday, sharing their collections. The Rockingham County Fairgrounds played host to this weekend's Antique Bottle and Collectibles show. Nearly 50 dealers from 7 states showed everything from old soda bottles to classic plates. Vendors offered items in just about every shape and color, even a few cows for the animal lover. Organizers say the event is about more than just browsing glass. "Bottle Collecting has become quite a big hobby," says show chairman Sonny Smiley. "A lot of people are into it now and people are looking for certain things like dairy bottles for instance that their relatives had." Smiley says the bottles are also a way to remember the past and take pride in the valley since many of the items were manufactured for our local dairies. The show wrapped up this afternoon.
