The Grottoes Volunteer Fire Department can breathe a little easier after receiving a new grant.
The squad received a $27,000 grant from the Department of Agriculture.
The money will help pay for new equipment, including special breathing apparatus, a new generator and a first response vehicle.
Officials say the grant is designed to help cover the costs of matching funds the department would normally have to pay for the projects.
In total, the department has received more than $160,000 in grants this year.
