With recent school renovations finally approved, the Queen City is exploring other options to help cut costs.
Last week, Staunton City Council voted 6-1, to renovate both Ware and McSwain Elementary Schools. That comes with an $18.7 million price tag.
But Queen City Horticulturist Holly Chichester has been brought on board to help cut landscape costs. She aims to preserve the lands' architectural integrity and plant selection. If done the right way, trees and other vegetation could save on energy costs down the road.
