The Virginia Senate paid tribute to those who died during a shooting rampage at Virginia Tech last year.

Throughout the session, which began last month, legislators have submitted memorial resolutions for various victims of the April 16 shootings, when a deranged student gunman killed 32 students and teachers before committing suicide.

Republican Senator John Watkins said his resolution Thursday was meant to make sure no victim was overlooked. He said it was difficult to "express appropriately" the legislature's "sincere remorse."

The resolution was sent to the House, which likely will do the same.
