Prince William Board of County Supervisors Chairman Corey Stewart says he plans to run for lieutenant governor next year.
The Republican is known as the architect of the county's illegal immigration crackdown. He also has been mentioned as a potential successor to Republican Congressman Tom Davis, who's retiring next year.
But Stewart tells The Washington Post he's frustrated that the General Assembly isn't passing its own immigration crackdown while cutting off support for schools, roads and local governments.
The lieutenant governor presides over the state Senate, and Stewart says he can "break that bottleneck."
