With the recent rain throughout the state, Gov. Mark Warner suspended the water restrictions he implemented a few months ago.

But, the City of Waynesboro has decided to keep its restrictions in tack.

City officials says because they do not have a real way of measuring its underground water levels, Council at the advice of City Manager Schuyler Giles decided to keep the water restrictions in place.

Giles say with the winter months upon us, he did not feel the restrictions would cause a major imposition on the public. Giles says despite the recent rains, he does not think the ground water has had a chance to recharge yet.

"I feel it is smart for us to keep the restrictions in place to see if this latest trend of rain wood continue or snow to help recharge the ground water," said Giles.

City Council has agreed to look at the water restriction issues again in late March or early April.
