Freezing rain has coated parts of the state, for the second time in a week.
It appears that the Shenandoah Valley has gotten the worst of it, where Dominion Virginia Power says more than 24,000 homes have lost electricity between Staunton and Woodstock. More than 1,000 homes were in the dark in northern Virginia, and there were scattered outages in Charlottesville, Fredericksburg and elsewhere.
Schools are closed or they opened late in many counties and cities.
Virginia State Police and transportation officials reported numerous accidents overnight on Interstate 81 as far south as Augusta County, and icy conditions on western I-66 and I-64. V-DOT said secondary roads were much worse.
