It all started shortly after 7 p.m. in the Westhaven Apartment Complex, police observed a man who they believe was wanted on outstanding warrants.
After attempting to stop the individual, police said Jermaine Breeden shot at police and attempted to get away. He was later shot and killed one block over from where the original shooting happened.
Police Officials say no one won in this incident.
"This is really an unfortunate situation in many respects," said Chief Timothy Longo of the Charlottesville Police Department. It's unfortunate to the family who lost a love one and it's also unfortunate for the police officer who was involved in this tragic situation."
