The state budget shortfall is affecting local budgets everywhere, including Harrisonburg City Schools.

Tuesday night, the school board heard the fourth revision of its proposed 2008-2009 budget, which is nearly $7 million more than last year's approved budget.

A major change was cutting teacher salary increases from four percent to three percent.

The school board will approve a final version in two weeks.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
