Waynesboro Police are concerned about what looks like a growing trend in the city. The number of business robberies there is on the rise.
The recent robbery at the Days Inn in Waynesboro has doubled the number of businesses robbed from last year to this year.
In 2001 there was a total of three robberies, while the numbers in 2002 have doubled from three to six with one attempted robbery.
Waynesboro Police says they believe several factors are to blame.
"Well it could be a lot of reasons," said Sgt. Brian Edwards of Waynesboro Police Department. "There is the economic downturn, people need money, they have lost their jobs and holiday time can add a lot of stress."
Sgt. Edwards says if anyone finds themselves in a situation where they are being robbed, just do as you are told to keep from getting hurt.
