After months of tests and hearings the Augusta County Board of Zoning and appeals finally gave the thumbs up to an Extreme Sports Park in Fishersville. Opposition has fought the park saying the motocross track would lower the values of their home and be too noisy.

The park passed narrowly with a vote of 3 to 2. Supporters were overjoyed.

"A dream come true for thousands and thousands of people that have been supporting me and have been looking forward to it," says Park organizer Terry Argenbright.

He adds, "Everything that has been asked of us by the board of zoning and appeals, we have accomplished and resulted in positive outcomes every time we turn around."

The board asked that some changes be made. The park will have to be moved further back into Expoland. Organizers will also have to plant pine trees and reduce the amount of race nights.

Lynn Uzzell, who opposes the park, says that’s not good enough. She also says she's not done fighting the park.

"The expo board has to approve it. That would be our next step there might be an appeal process, and God forbid, there could be a court case," says Uzzell.

She and other homeowners say they're in the right. She says the park will make too much noise and lower the value of the homes.

"Of all the alarming things I've heard about living near a motocross race track, I've heard one comfortable thing, that when the community bands together, we win," says Uzzell.

Park organizers say they are still willing to work with residents saying that in the long run they hope to turn them into supporters.
