Members of West Virginia University's Faculty Senate have changed their minds about whether to support an indoor smoking ban in Monongalia County workplaces.

The group voted against endorsing the county ordinance in February, but reversed that decision Monday.

Many members were originally concerned about whether endorsing such a ban was outside the faculty senate's authority.

But Senator Mark Tauger said the ban isn't a political issue but a health issue and is relevant to WVU.

The workplace ban is pending before the Monongalia County Board of Health.
