Fire at Marshalls Distribution in Bridgewater

A fire broke out at Marshalls Distribution Center in Bridgewater around 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning, causing exterior structural damage.

The fire was in the back of the building, according to Rockingham County Fire Chief Jeremy Holloway.

About 60 firefighters were on the scene from five departments, including Rockingham County, Harrisonburg, Bridgewater, Weyers Cave, and Mount Solon.

Most of the damage is exterior, but there was smoke damage inside the building. Crews say that the fire was accidental and started by discarded smoking material.

Employees of Marshalls were evacuated for about two hours. They have been allowed back in the building.

According to rescue crews, there are no injuries.
