Fort Defiance High School will devote a part of its spirit wall in memory of Amy Caracofe. Amy was leaving school when she was in a fatal accident on Dam Town Road that claimed her life back in January.

Since Amy's accident, the community has been scattering messages across the entire wall in memory of her. Doug Caracofe, Amy's father, says the school has not appreciated the writing that has left little room for others to write on. However, he says he understands.

"My family is actually tired of seeing these messages on the wall, all over the wall. We need just one section, which I think the school has agreed to give the public," explains Caracofe.

Amy's father, family and friends came out to clean up the wall to get it ready for a section that will be dedicated especially to her.

"We're just covering up the writing on the wall. It's going to be white. When we leave this evening, it's going to be white and then the school is going to come in about two weeks. The principal told me, they are going to paint the murals and such on it," says Doug.

Amy's friend, Lisa Oscar, and Amy's father agree the mural will be a way for the community to see and remember Amy but also make room for everyone else.

"I am going to be happy that there will be a place to express your feelings not just for the school but for everybody," says Oscar.

"These children are probably still grieving over that situation, but that situation aside, we still have Jim coming home from the war or Jack going to war. They just need a way to vent their feelings," adds Doug.

Doug says he expects the new mural to be up in about two weeks. He is asking the community to hold off writing on the wall for Amy until the school finally puts up it's own section dedicated to her.

How dare FDHS put up a mural just for Amy! There was also another student that died from that school. Why is Travis Williamson being forgotten? I think it is truly a shame that the wall cannot be deciated to ALL that have passed.

A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
