The trial of a man accused of causing a wreck that killed five people and injured seven others is under way in Monongalia County Circuit Court.

Brian Stone of Morgantown is charged with five counts of driving under the influence causing death and one count each of third- or subsequent-offense DUI, third offense driving while a license is suspended or revoked, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury.

Police say Stone's pickup truck rear-ended a car on Interstate 68 near Morgantown in July. That caused the car to cross the median and hit another vehicle head on.

Two witnesses testified Wednesday that they saw Stone's truck swerving in and out of traffic before it hit the car.
