Three Augusta County men appeared in general district court Thursday for a preliminary hearing on a deadly high speed crash.

Some call it a drag race, but police have not confirmed that such racing was a direct cause of 18-year-old Brittany Engleman's death last October. However, police did charge the three men with obstruction of justice.

After hearing cross examination from a state trooper and a witness at the scene, the judge determined that the case was certifiable to the grand jury. Both Engleman's mother and grandmother say they just want justice to be served.

"I want justice served and I'm glad to see it's going to the grand jury," says Tammy Harris, Engleman's mother.

"They say it was an accident, and it might have been an accident, but they had no business drag racing. Nobody does," says Loretta Staton, Engleman's grandmother.

Engleman had been living with her grandmother for the last six years life, and Staton says she knew some of her friends liked to go drag racing at night.

"I had heard because I asked Brittany one time and she says 'no Nanny he don't do that' and I said 'Brittany please, if he does, please get out of that car do not stay in there with him.' But evidently she didn't," says Staton.

Now, all that remains are pictures and memories of Engleman, and her grandmother says there isn't a day that goes by where she doesn't think of her.

"I want justice. I want them to pay for what they done," says Staton. "I know it's not going to bring her back to me. Nothing ever will."

In the state trooper's testimony, he says one of the three men charged beeped his horn three times, and then the two cars sped off like they were racing. The trooper also says the men did make comments about racing.

I thank God every day for the kid that came forward with the truth. That restored me, their are good people in this world, and she is one of them. That took great courage to come forth on her part.

I think it is just a little odd, so many kids had so much to comment on when this firt happend and at this kids vigil, And bashen her family, Even though they were not there on Oct 23 2007. Now that the trial has started and a little light is shed on what really happend, and a wittness has steped forward that yea, was there. No one has to much to say now... It when from 50 some comments on her Candle light Vigil to 0. And when her family held that to remember this kid, you bashed them for doing such... Shame on you I hope you never have to go through what they are. I myself cannot begin to imagine!
