Although the Zirkle Mill will not be making the voyage to Staunton, the Frontier Culture Museum supports the governor's decision.

The museum had intended the Zirkle Mill to be part of its future Montgomery Springs Village.

The museum's executive director, John Avoli, said the project will forge ahead, and the museum already has a list of other mill options.

He says thousands of visitors would have been able to see the Zirkle Mill here as opposed to keeping it in Forestville.

But at this point the museum just hopes the mill will be treated with tender loving care.

"Our interest now is in the mill and the preservation of the mill," Avoli explained. "It would have been nice to have it here but the governor has made a decision. I think it's a proper decision and we have no problem with it."

Avoli said the museum will help whoever ends up with the mill to keep it in tip-top condition.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
