Prince William County's police chief met Thursday night with the Mexican Embassy's consul general and the county's immigrant community.

They will talk about concerns stemming from the county's new policy on illegal immigration.

Mexican Consul Enrique Escorza says there are misconceptions about the policy, which requires police to check the legal status of suspected illegal immigrants questioned for a crime or traffic violation.

Escorza says some immigrants believe they can't report a crime out of concern that they will be asked to show they have documents to be in the country. Escorza says that is not the case.

A Prince William County police spokeswoman says the meeting is one in dozens of attempts by Police Chief Charlie Deane to "get out the facts" about the immigration crackdown.

They should tell the consulate to take all his people back to Mexico, until they can immigrate to the US legally. Then they can be proud, productive Americans, instead of being ILLEGALS. The US, AND it's citizens, have a right to control immigration, and people should respect that. Hispanics are very quick to call Americans "racist", but that really has nothing to do with it. We want SECURE BORDERS, period. I think most of the 9/11 terrorists were in the US illegally, and that is the kind of thing we don't want. Al Quaeda is VERY active on the US/Mexico border, and people need to stop turning a blind eye to that fact. Middle Eastern extremists are historically VERY patient people, and are most certainly building troop strength inside the US borders RIGHT NOW. So please, let's not make this a racist issue. We just want safety & security for our citizens OF ALL RACES. The fact that Mexico openly & actively supports ILLEGAL entry to the US is a huge part of the problem.
