The Virginia State Police held a press conference Thursday morning revealing the details of the I-64 shooting. Based on witness accounts, VSP says there are at least two suspects involved in the shootings, but they do not have descriptions for either one.

As it becomes darker on the interstate, state police are assuring drivers it's safe to drive on 64, but they should just be extra cautious.

The calls started coming in just after midnight. Within 20 minutes and 11 miles of interstate 64 in Albemarle County, state police say at least six vehicles were shot.

"It was three different locations where those shots took place, where we know the shots were fired," says Col. Steve Flaherty, the Superintendent of the Virginia State Police.

Police say three cars were fired upon from an overpass and two people were sent to the hospital with minor injuries. Investigators spent Thursday morning collecting evidence at the scene.

"Well, we don't know that it's a single gun or not until we test the ballistic evidence, it appears at this time that evidence we recovered are of the same caliber, but we don't know if it's fired from the same gun," says Flaherty.

While the suspects are at large, police are asking other drivers to be mindful of their surroundings.

"Well, I certainly think that everyone needs to be observant. I mean we've had this incident to occur, there's no indication that there's, we haven't identified any motive for what may have occurred, so we all need to be cautious," says Flaherty.

Police say they will have increased patrol along the interstate Thursday night, but they say it shouldn't stop people from traveling on the roads.

People will still be scared to drive on interstate after the shooting that has occured rather there is more police patrol or not, how are they going to make it safer when there is like only 1 authorized vehicle road between every exit on interstate. And plus if they have all police on interstate who is protecting us?
