Crews found it by accident while they were surveying the cave two years ago. Experts have been exploring the find ever since. The new section adds about three miles to the cave, making it four times bigger than before. Since formations in the cave's original halls were destroyed more than a hundred years ago, cave enthusiasts say it's nice to find a section that's untouched. "To go back in the new section and see that nothing is broken is pretty unbelievable," said cave enthusiast Scott Davis. To preserve the new section and maintain the formations, cavern officials say they probably won't open it up to the public.
