Albemarle County Police have identified the officer who shot a man while serving a search warrant at a Crozet farm last week.

As part of normal policy, Officer M.J. Easton is on administrative leave pending the outcome of a state police investigation stemming from an incident tied to the shooting spree along Interstate 64 last Thursday.

Easton shot the father of the 16-year-old boy charged in the incident. It is also possible the shootings may not have all been random.

People who live on Commerce Road in Waynesboro say they knew the 19-year-old suspect, Slade Woodson. Woodson has been charged with shooting into their home.

The family says their teenager and Woodson were friends, but he was forbidden to see Woodson after Woodson was arrested in 2007 on arson charges.
