Fire that Killed Va. Boy Started on 1st-floor

DOOMS, Va. (AP) -- A fire official says a blaze that killed an 11-year-old Augusta County boy started in a first-floor bedroom.

Augusta County Fire and Rescue Chief Carson Holloway tells The News-Virginian (http://bit.ly/SxAFKF ) that the cause of the fire hasn't been determined. But investigators believe the fire was accidental.

Virginia State Police say Dustyn R. Fitzgerald died at the scene of the Sunday morning fire in Dooms. He was found in his bedroom on the second floor of his family's home. His parents and 5-year-old brother escaped the fire without injury.

Holloway says there was a smoke detector on the first floor.
