Volunteers are continuing an air and ground search in Shenandoah National Park for a man who's been missing for nine days.

Park officials said the search was in its seventh day on Friday for 42-year-old Jose Alfonso Martins, Jr. of Manassas.

Park spokeswoman Karen Beck-Herzog said there is footage of Martins entering the park on Wednesday, March 26 and his car was found in the park three days later, when the search began.

She said Martin is said to be despondent and she said he "is not an experienced outdoors person."

Beck-Herzog said intermittent rain might force volunteers to end the search earlier than planned on Friday.

She said there were about 40 people searching on Friday, including dog teams and a helicopter.
