After months of fact-finding, hearings and resignations, the wait is over for both sides.
Thursday night, the Waynesboro School Board voted unanimously to uphold the fact-finding panels 2 to 1 recommendation to fire choral teacher Tracy Straight.
This was the same recommendation given by Superintendent Lowell Lemons.
Straight resigned yesterday, but the board members did not accept it.
Chairwoman Lorie Smith tells TV-3 in the case of the 300- plus pages of facts, it was not possible to dismiss the case without completing due process. Especially since Straight admitted to the consumption of an alcoholic drink and wasn't willing to take responsibility for making what they deemed a poor decision nor tender any apology.
Several attempts to reach Straight for comment went unanswered.
